From Martigny, the Saint-Bernard Express heads into the Entremont valleys, linking the Rhône plain with Orsières and Le Châble. In under thirty minutes, the train leaves the orchards of the valley floor behind and climbs into a landscape of gorges, forests and mountain villages.
A spectacular journey
Shortly after leaving Martigny, the line crosses the Dranse and climbs towards Sembrancher. Through the window, vineyards give way to alpine pastures, with the Grand Combin massif as a backdrop. It is one of the most varied journeys on the TMR network, popular with commuters and hikers alike.
Connections to the finest spots in Valais
At Sembrancher the line splits: one branch runs to Orsières, gateway to the Val Ferret and the Great St Bernard Pass, while the other continues to Le Châble, where buses and the gondola take you up to Verbier. Connections with our regional bus lines run all year round.
