Passengers without a valid ticket are those who hold no valid ticket for all or part of their journey. Passengers with no ticket or with a partially valid ticket pay an increased surcharge, whatever reason is given (not enough time to buy a ticket, or being unable to find it). In addition, their identity and contact details are recorded electronically and kept for a minimum of two years. The ticket and the surcharge are then invoiced.
A passenger with a partially valid ticket is anyone presenting a ticket valid for the whole route but whose validity is insufficient in the following specific situations:
- No class upgrade
- Ticket for the wrong customer category (e.g. half-fare or reduced-price ticket without the relevant card)
- Wrong choice of transport mode for part of the route
